I know I have talked a lot about making memories with your families. I have posted a few times on Thinking Outside The Pot Facebook page desserts that you can make #Sundayfamilymemories with. Desserts always make family time even better for sure. We get together with my husbands family almost every Sunday for family dinner. There are 3 married brothers that live close. We all bring a dish to share with everyone each time we have dinner. I love being able to bring dessert. It kind of seems like a race to see who can call dibs on bringing dessert. Just kidding, but I try to say first when I have something new I want to share with everyone.
This week my mother in-law made some super yummy spaghetti. I was able to make this really great pound cake recipe. We share chickens with my in-laws and the chickens have been laying eggs like crazy lately. For that very reason I made this pound cake. It takes about 6 eggs, so I was able to put a dent in our couple dozen eggs in our fridge. Cake made from scratch always seems so difficult to do, but this recipe is a perfect, easy and delicious cake recipe. Enjoy!
Vanilla Pound Cake
1 cup of butter, at room temp.
3 cups of sugar
6 eggs
1 cup of sour cream
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking powder
3 cups of flour
1 TB of vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter, eggs and sugar.
Stir in sour cream and add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well. Flour and grease your bundt cake pan before putting the cake batter in the pan. Add the batter to the pan and toss in the oven.
Bake for 90 minutes, and check at 75 minutes.Serve the cake warm with ice cream, whipped cream, a simple icing on top and your favorite fruit.
