Chili Mac Dinner

chili mac dinner

This recipe has been in my side of the family for a long time. My dad said that it was about the only thing his little sister knew how to make growing up. He ate a lot of chili mac when it was her turn to cook. He loved it though!  I remember eating it quite a bit growing up as well. It’s a easy to prepare meal that your whole family will enjoy. I have continued to make this recipe and carry on the tradition of chili mac in my own home. My family enjoys it as well. I sure hope your family does as well.

1 pound of ground hamburger

1/2 large onion, diced

1 can corn (12 oz)

1 quart size jar of whole tomatoes

1/2 can of black beans

1/2 can of light kidney beans

1 c. elbow macaroni noodles

1 T chili powder

1 T garlic salt

 pepper for taste

2-3 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

Brown hamburger with onions. Add tomatoes( after shaken the jar vigorously), corn and beans. Add chili powder, garlic salt and pepper. Simmer covered for about 30 minutes on medium heat. Or until the macaroni is done. Add cheese on top and cover and melt cheese. Serve with sour cream on top.
