Oatmeal Peanut-Butter Chocolate Bars

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

I was trying to come up with a great treat to take to my church youth girls yesterday. The one thing that came to my mind that I hadn’t taken them yet was peanut butter bars. I wanted to make them my own recipe though, not one that my mom gave me, or grandma. I wanted to create my own. I love doing this. It’s fun for me to come up with new ideas in the kitchen. I decided that that it would be great to combine the peanut butter with rolled oats. Genius, I tell ya! They turned out mouth melting delicious. The girls loved them. I also left a few for my husband to try out. He loved them as well. Win for me. I love them my new recipes win. Hope these bars are a win at your house as well.

1 cup of creamy peanut butter

1/3 cup of honey

1 cup of rolled oats

1 cup of milk chocolate chips

1 cup of milk chocolate chips

1 cup of peanut butter

1 T of Crisco

In a large bowl melt together the honey and peanut butter in the microwave. Heat until it is nice and smooth and easy to stir. Then mix together the oats and chocolate chips. Pour into a 9 X 13 glass pan that is greased. Press the bars into the pan so that they are spread evenly. Next in a other medium size bowl microwave the peanut butter, chocolate chips and Crisco for the top of the bars. Melt until able to stir and it’s smooth. The Crisco helps so the chocolate chips and peanut butter don’t burn to the bowl. Then pour the chocolate and peanut butter mixture on top of the oat bars. Place in the freezer until ready to serve. Store in the fridge to keep the chocolate from melting in this summer heat.
