Sometimes I think, wouldn’t it be so much easier to make box, frozen or any store bought meals?? Some days it would be, but not healthier at all. If you look at how many calories and processed those store bought dinners are you will change your mind quickly. One thing that I have had before in the box and enjoyed it many years ago is Hamburger Helper. Back then I could eat anything in the world and not gain a pound or feel bad about it though. As I was thinking about what to make for dinner for the week I remembered this. I decided why don’t I just make it homemade? Sometimes I surprise myself. I come up with the best ideas 🙂 Homemade Hamburger Helper was a good dish to add to our menu. It was quick but filling and nutritious. I hope you all think so as well. Eat up and Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1/2 pound of ground hamburger
1/2 lb of large elbow macaroni
1/2 onion, chopped
1 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup of flour
2 cups of milk
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp of dried organo
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1 T of parsley flakes
salt
pepper
Put your noodles on to boil while you brown the hamburger. Once the hamburger is browned toss in the chopped onions. Cook on medium heat until onions are tender. Add the cooked macaroni to the hamburger. Stir the milk and flour together so that there are no clumps. Pour slowly into the noodles and hamburger. Add tomato sauce and seasonings. Simmer on medium heat for a few minutes, stirring every so often. Add the shredded cheese and stir it in. Once the cheese has melted its ready to serve.
