Be My Valentine Sugar Cookies

Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookie recipes are hard to master. It has taken me a long time to find a good recipe that never fails. I like my sugar cookies soft and fluffy, just like the loft house cookies. These sugar cookies are your best bet when it comes to soft and fluffy. Of course if you like them a little more crunchy you can just cook them a little longer. The key though to soft and fluffy is the time you bake the cookies. I only bake them about 7-9 minutes just until they are golden on the bottom. Also the other key to great sugar cookies is the frosting. Butter cream frosting can be mastered by anyone. It’s so easy trust me!

Anyways I baked up a bunch of these yummy valentine’s cookies this afternoon. As a family this evening we delivered them to some of our family. What better way to say I love you on Valentine’s day then to give your loved ones these delicious cookies.

 Makes about 5 doz

 6 cups of flour

 1 tsp baking soda

 1 tsp baking powder

 1/2 tsp salt

1 cup of unsalted butter, softened

 2 cups of sugar

 3 eggs

 2 tsp of vanilla

1 1/2 cups of sour cream

Cream together butter, sour cream, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Next add all the dry ingredients. Once mixed together well. Remove from mixing bowl, and roll into a large ball. Wrap in plastic wrap, and chill over night. Chilling the cookie dough will make it so much easier to work with in the morning.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Split dough into 4 equal parts to make it easier to roll out. Flour your counter top and roll out the dough. Use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut your dough out. Place on cookie sheet that is covered with parchment paper. Bake for 7-9 minutes. Once they are cooled frost and sprinkle.

 1 cup butter, softened

 2 tsp of vanilla

 6 cups of powdered sugar

 6 tsp of milk

Mix all ingredients together besides the milk. Once it’s all creamed together well add he milk one tsp at a time. Now it’s ready to frost those yummy cookies. Top with valentine’s day sprinkles.
