Homemade Garlic French Bread

Homemade French bread

This recipe is one of my all time favorite bread recipes now. I have made it a few times now and I think I have perfected it, so I can share with you all. I love to pair this bread recipe with Sunday dinner. Rather then making rolls that can sometimes take too much time, this is my go to recipe on Sundays. MMM, and who doesn’t love the crispy crust, soft center and loads of carbs to end your weekend with. This bread is so versatile. You can pair it with pasta, make french bread pizza with it, or even make croutons out of it with the leftovers. I love all the options this French Bread recipe gives me. Let’s get baking, because who doesn’t love the smell of baking bread? I’m in are you?

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups of very warm water (I use the water right from my kitchen sink tap)
  • 2 Tablespoons of dry active yeast
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon of salt
  • 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 6 cups of all-purpose-flour
  • 1 Tablespoon of Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon of dried parsley flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil to brush on tops

Instructions

  1. In your standing mixer add your water, yeast, sugar, salt and oil. Let it sit for a minute or two the yeast can do it’s work.
  2. Then mix the ingredients until the yeast, salt and sugar are dissolved on a low speed.
  3. Now add your flour one cup at a time until it is all mixed in. Then add your garlic powder and parsley flakes.
  4. Spray a medium sized bowl with non-stick spray and place the bread dough in the blow and cover with a towel. I usually put it on top of my oven while it pre-heats. Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees. Let your dough rise to double in size.
  5. Remove your dough out and shape into big worm liked shapes. You should be able to get 2 French bread loaves out of this dough. Place the loaves on a large greased cookie sheet.
  6. Take a sharp knife and make a slice about 1/3 of the way down the dough. Do two to three of these slices depending on the size of your loaf. Make them about 2 inches apart. Then let your dough rise to double again.
  7. Before baking brush your tablespoon of olive oil on the tops of the bread loaves. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown on the tops. Serve right away while it’s nice and warm!

Hope you enjoy this simple and yummy Homemade Garlic French Bread recipe!
